Loren & Evan

After a few months of exchanging inspiration photos with Loren, it was great to finally meet her in person when she and Evan arrived in Tamarindo.  She had a trial session at the Diria a few days before the wedding so when the big day rolled around, we already knew she was going to be a knock-out!
Loren had been a busy little bride-to-be perusing Pinterest (what did we do before Pinterest?!?) and was ready with lots of photos of soft, beachy make-up and long loosely curled hair, half-up, half-down.
Nick is the master at creating loose, flowing styles.  Her long beautiful blonde hair was perfect for this!!

They had a gorgeous ceremony with a sunset backdrop.  What could be better??

Caroline & Ben

One of the perks of being wedding stylists in Costa Rica is that we get to travel to all these beautiful places outside of the already spectacular beach paradise that we live.  Caroline & Ben had their amazing wedding in beautiful La Fortuna, with the Volcan Arenal as the backdrop.  Their room was tucked up away from the road, nestled among lush, jungle foliage. It could not have been a more beautiful, tranquil setting for getting ready.

Caroline's style was vintage, old Hollywood glam, complete with  soft finger waves, winged liner, lush red lips and glamorous satin gown.

Their wedding was featured on Junebug Weddings blog.

Perfect Glowing Make-Up

Many brides, especially beach brides, are always in search of the perfect, glowing "natural look" make-up.  Nude or lightly shaded lips and eyes accentuated with gorgeous neutral or copper tones and a clean stroke of gel liner.  This look photographs beautifully -- especially for a sunset ceremony -- and is gorgeous on just about everyone.

White Wire Crochet Earrings

I'm a huge Etsy addict --- probably in need of a 12 step program!  It constantly amazes me how many truly creative artists there are out there.  If you haven't browsed wedding items on Etsy, you must!  There are so many unique handmade items and it's a great way to support independent artists.

I stumbled across these gorgeous white wire crochet earrings made by Albina Rose and thought they were so delicate and unique.  They are available in white or cream.

Wedding Crown

My full time, everyday job is as a jewelry designer.  I have a boutique here in Tamarindo named De Bajo La Escalera where I sell my handmade jewelry, accessories and customized t-shirts.  I've been trying to connect the dots between the wedding biz and the jewelry biz and develop a line of wedding accessories.  That hasn't exactly come to fruition yet, so when I recently received an order to create a wedding crown I was really excited to take the first step in that direction.

My client's friend (who was Swedish) was getting married and she wanted to gift her at the wedding shower with a wire wrapped Swedish wedding crown.  I didn't know what a Swedish wedding crown looked like, so of course I Googled it (what did we do before Google for God's sake?) to find images and also perused crowns on Etsy to get some ideas about shape and size.  Since I'd never made anything like this, I was definitely was on board for a bit of a mental and artistic challenge!!

She shared her ideas with me and together we came up with a basic goal to work towards.  Next, I attempted to sketch up the design, however, drawing is absolutely not my gift.  Luckily after a few attempts, I was able to doodle up something that somewhat resembled what I had in my head.
Although I have lots of experience forming things with wire, I've never made a crown before, so I had to put a bit of thought into how to construct the frame and then how to structure it so that it was durable as well as beautiful.

After constructing the frame and the first bit of wiring to stabilize it, I sent some photos.  We decided that after each "row" of wrapping I'd check in with some photos until she felt we had what she had envisioned.  We wanted it to be structured around the base, but definitely keep a feeling of airiness as well.

We stopped after three rows, but if someone wanted a very ornate one, the wiring could have been taken all the way up, or even had a few beads or rhinestones thrown in.  Hmmmmm, I may have found my new pastime, constructing crowns for all the fairy princesses out there.

Karen & Carlos

We had a great time working with Karen & Carlos for their engagement photo session as well as their wedding day.

Photographer Sylvia Guardia did a beautiful job of capturing the bond between these two during their engagement session in Playa del Coco as well as their wedding day in Hacienda Pinilla.

Rebecca & Andrew

Every single detail of this wedding was dreamy!  For starters, the location, Sueno del Mar in Langosta became my new dream wedding location.  This fab site, combined with Kirsten from Four Winds Weddings impeccable site styling, took my breath away!

We met up with Rebecca a few days prior for her trial session.  Her and Andrew were all smiles and radiated love and happiness.  When we got arrived on the wedding day, we were all on track to make her and her amazing family gorgeous for the ceremony.

Connie & David

When Connie first contacted us and told us she was looking to do something retro - Hollywood glam style - we got really excited to work with her.  Nick did a great job creating her perfect pin curled, pin-up style hair with a great feathered hair clip.  Her make-up was simple -- liquid eyeliner, long sexy (false) lashes and of course bright red lipstick. Combined with her vintage style gown, she was a knock-out!
